Having said these things, he spit on the ground and made mud with the saliva. Then he anointed the man's eyes with the mud and said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which means Sent). So he went and washed and came back seeing. (John 9:6-7)
Do you feel like you have been stripped off? Do you feel like things are not working the way they used to? Do you feel like God has kept you hanging? Do you feel like just when you believe that God's promise for you is going to come to pass, you are back in the same spot?
You are not alone. Understanding what is going on will make it easier for you to surrender to the process.
Hebrews 11:6 says: "Without faith, it is impossible to please God." Faith is God's language. Faith is where God wants to bring us because this is where He exists. And the biggest hindrance to faith is the natural realm that is totally the opposite of the supernatural realm where God wants to take us.
It takes faith to activate the miracle-working power of God. However, God knows that we are not familiar with His realm and He patiently teaches us to get there. He starts off by meeting us where we are.
This was the case with the man who was born blind. Jesus wanted to heal him but He knew that his faith was needed to activate the healing. Jesus used a natural means to heal the man, something that he understands and can relate to. Jesus used his saliva, which back in the days was believed to have healing properties. The blind man's faith was activated because he believed; yet, at that point, he believed what he could understand.
This is what the Lord is doing in you. He used certain means and methods for a season: things you were more familiar with; things you understood; and things that lined up with your natural thinking. He allowed this for a season, to bring you to where He wants you to be in your level of faith.
You can't stay on that level forever. He now needs to elevate you. The higher He promotes you, the higher level of faith you need to operate in. This is why He took those familiar things away from you.
I remember when I first learned how to ride a bike. It had training wheels that my dad lifted higher and higher as I learned how to ride. One day he removed the wheels and I was so scared. The road in front of our house was downhill, and my dad held the back of my bike as I got ready. He told me he was going to hold me and that I should not be scared. I believed him and began to pedal thinking and believing that he was behind me. I reached the end of the road still thinking he was just right there. When I stopped and looked back, I realized my dad was still where I took off.
This is a great analogy of what God is doing in your life right now. You don't need those training wheels anymore. It feels quite scary because you've gotten used to them. Rest assured He is there with you without it, as He was with you with it. In fact, He will be with you more as you are increased in your level of faith because you will hear His voice even more clearly.
Welcome to the realm of faith where the chosen ones have walked on and continue to walk on.
