WARNING TO MARRIED COUPLES
APRIL 2013

I was shocked with the news I recently read about the nation’s most influential pediatrician’s group endorsing gay marriage and saying that a stable relationship between parents regardless of sexual orientation contributes to a child’s health and well-being. How can a gay marriage be stable if it is against the Word of God? How can it create children with healthy well-beings if they will be exposed to a twisted, distorted concept of marriage at their early age? And yet, when I pondered more on this, I realized that there was some truth to this.
The truth that I am talking about is the reality that we are facing – the reality that a lot of heterosexual marriages are breaking apart; that there is a large population of children growing in one parent homes; and that there are Christian marriages that are ending in divorce.
Another truth that I see is that the devil gains ground when we Christians fail to do our part. Each time a Christian marriage falls apart, we give the devil the opportunity to show the whole world that his gay marriage is better than our Christian marriage. And he will continue to prove this as we continue to fail as Christians.
The world uses their physical senses to judge things. They are not aware of the wiles of the enemy. They do not know that they are just being used as pawns. They believe what they see. And if they see that two gay people in a relationship are more faithful to each other than a heterosexual couple, then they will believe that a gay relationship may really be a better option. Honestly, I personally know gay couples who have been together for a very long time and have remained totally committed to each other. If this is what the world sees, then the devil will surely gain more control on his end. Of course we know that he will never win and that he already lost. Yet, we are still in a war. Jesus has not returned and we still have to face and battle with our enemy. Meanwhile, what do we do?
Shouting out in the streets and protesting gay marriage is surely a radical move. However, people can just laugh at us over this if what they see around them are Christian marriages falling apart. Of course we can only do so much to warn Christian couples against divorce and to preach hard about maintaining a godly marriage. Yet, if every married Christian will take a stand for his or her marriage ... fight for it at all costs ... obey God as to His instructions for the husband and wife respectively ... totally surrender the marriage to God ... and prayerfully keep the marriage intact, then we will surely take back from the devil what he is trying to steal from us – a Biblical marriage that God designed.
What else can we do?
If you are a Christian parent, better be sure to raise your children in the ways of the Lord. Of course this has to start by you being totally surrendered to God and His Word; otherwise you will not be effective. Teach them the concept of Biblical marriage – one man and one woman; sex only in marriage; a marriage till death do them part; no divorce; a marriage surrendered to God; keeping the marriage bed undefiled; and the respective roles of the husband and the wife.
If at an early age they understand the concept of marriage, as designed by God, then no amount of outside influence can deter them from following the Lord and His ways. And even if they choose to disobey, the conviction in them will be so great.

Another thing we can do as Christians is to stand against any threat to a Biblical marriage. Stand firm in upholding God’s standards. Call sin for what it is and never condone the works of the enemy, even if the person involved is a family member or close friend.
This is where Christians compromise most of the time. Just because a family member or a close friend is gay and chooses to be gay, they just accept this family member for his or her choice. They justify this “compromise” by saying that accepting their family member or close friend for his or her choice is a way of loving them the way the Bible teaches.
Let me tell you something. This is definitely not a Biblical love because 1 Corinthians 13 talks about love as “not rejoicing over evil”. If you truly love a person and you see that the person is in the wrong and can go to hell for his or her choice, then the best thing you can do is to tell that person what the Bible says about what she is doing. Tell that person what God says about her situation. Then explain to her that you love her and that you want to see her experience the fullness of God’s blessings as a result of obedience to His Word.
If this person refuses to change, continue to pray for her, but never, ever say that you respect her for her decision. How can you respect something that is not of God? Do not associate with this person when it comes to her activities that are against the Word of God. For instance, if she invites you to a party where her partner will be there, or her other gay friends, remind her that if you will go, you will just be preaching the Truth. And if she is fine with that, then you will go, not to party with them but to lead the lost to Jesus. But if she warns you not to even talk about Jesus, then don’t go. You have to set your boundaries with this person while continuously praying for her.
If you, as a Christian, choose to ignore the sin of homosexuality ... if you continue to just accept it for what it is ... if you continue to stay behind the scenes and not even call sin for what it is –then the enemy will surely take the platform that is supposed to be yours. If you won’t use that opportunity that God has given you to preach boldly for the truth, then the devil will take it for himself, and distort the Truth, and make a mockery out of our belief.
Don’t be too complacent thinking that Jesus already won and that God will do His part. You have a part to play. If you don’t do your part, then their blood is in your hands.
