GET DOWN ON YOUR KNEES

I don’t need to tell you how powerful prayer is. You already know. And if you are truly a Christian, then prayer should be your lifestyle ... something that comes naturally for you. And as a Christian wife, I am definitely expecting that you are regularly praying for your husband.
What I am going to talk about in this article is not just a regular or ordinary prayer that most people are accustomed to. I am going to discuss with you the kind of prayer that shakes the gates of heaven ... the prayer that makes demons flee ... and the prayer that creates breakthroughs for your marriage.
Before I proceed with this kind of prayer, I want to remind you, wives, that nobody can pray for your husband as powerfully as you. You are his other half, bone of his bones, and flesh of his flesh. In terms of ranking, your prayers for your husband occupy the highest level. It comes way ahead of the prayers of other people in his life.
Ecclesiastes 4:12 says ...
A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.
You, your husband, and God are the triple cord. The devil knows this so well which is why he will try to cripple both of you. He will jump on your husband first and let you be severely affected by it. He may trick him by letting him have a sneak peak of porn until he gets addicted to it. Then you will be severely hurt and will start withdrawing from him. Or he may pounce on your husband through a flash of anger and you become the poor victim. This will now lead you to resentment, bitterness, and loss of respect for your husband. The devil will do everything in his power to destroy your marriage. He hates marriage so much because it represents God’s relationship with His church. He hates not only you and your husband but your children and future grandchildren. By separating the two of you, you will not stand strong, and therefore he will be able to attack you easily until he breaks your marriage apart. The damage of this marriage will run down to your children and your children’s children. This is the devil’s plan and his ultimate agenda for every marriage in this planet.
When you are attacked by the devil as a result of his attacking your husband, there is no one left to hold on to the cord. But when you get down on your knees and pray, you save both of you because you are still able to hold on to that cord.
Visualize this scenario to make my point more impactful.
You and your husband are drowning. You are so tired and weary of swimming and you are on the verge of giving up. Yet you see a life raft from a distance. You know you need to get it but you are just so tired. However, you still had little hope left in you. You use this remaining thread of hope to reach the life raft. You can barely hold on to it but you still held on. Then all of a sudden you had the strength not only to hold on to it but to also grab your husband’s hand. He then finds strength and both of you get out of your predicament.
Let’s face it ... it’s not easy to pray when you are mad or hurting. It is easier to give in to your emotions and drown in it rather than get down on your knees and pray for your husband. Yet, when you choose to pray for him in the midst of your chaotic emotions, you end up strengthening yourself, and your husband as well.
Do you realize that God uses trials in our marriage to push us to pray? I don’t know about you but my most powerful prayers were said when I was going through the most critical times of my marriage. I had no other choice but to cry out and wail before God. It was during those times when I saw miracles happening right before my eyes.
I have seen the devil jumped on my husband several times. And mind you, he can jump on the holiest man of God. He did it with Peter so your husband is not exempted from it, no matter how strong he is as a man of God. And he can also jump on you, for sure. Some of those times when I saw the devil in him, I got in my flesh and allowed the devil to attack me. However, there were times (which happened more often, praise God) when I made the devil flee by boldly and powerfully taking my position in prayer.
This kind of prayer is not a silent prayer; nor is it the kind of timid prayer where your tears just fall down your cheeks. This kind of prayer uses all the strength that you have in you. It is the kind of prayer that makes you very zealous for God and puts you in a war mode with the devil. This kind of prayer voices out and releases powerful Scriptures, like a sharp, shining sword that you pull out, ready to kill the devil.
This kind of prayer comes out of me when I see my husband getting defeated by the enemy ... when I see him very discouraged ... or when I see a threat in our marriage. And each time, I have seen a powerful move from God, almost like seeing angels warring with demons and eventually gaining victory. Out of this prayer, I have seen my husband transform into a strong man of God.
Admittedly, there are some prayer results that take longer than others, depending on what God is trying to do. The process, more than the result, is what God is after, most of the time. He is more concerned about our character building than giving us what we are asking for. If He sees that you still need more training in being a prayer warrior, then He may not answer your prayer right away so you will continue persevering.
Don’t waste this gift and power that God has given you for your husband and your marriage. Instead of complaining, sulking, or talking against your husband and/or marriage, get down on your knees and start praying powerfully. Whether your husband is cheating on you, doing drugs, has a drinking problem, is physically sick, is going through depression, or is threatening to leave and divorce you, get down on your knees and pray!!! Don’t make it easy for the devil. Don’t let him steal and destroy your marriage. Cry it all out to God. Express to Him all your frustrations. Remind Him of His promises for you. Rebuke and cast out that devil from your marriage. Stand in the gap for your husband and put the blood of Jesus between your marriage and the devil. I always call the devil out and tell him ... I PUT THE BLOOD OF JESUS BETWEEN YOU AND ME AS I STAND IN THE GAP FOR MY HUSBAND AND MY MARRIAGE. DON’T YOU DARE CROSS THE LINE OR YOU WILL BE DEALING WITH JESUS ... THE MAN WHO DIED FOR ME AND ENSURED YOUR DOOMSDAY.
It takes a strong spiritual walk to be able to do this so you might as well start building up your spirit now, even if you’re not going through anything bad. Battles are won through advanced preparation, and this is what you need to do now.
Proverbs 31:15 says ...
She rises while it is yet night and gets [spiritual] food for her household.
You have a responsibility, through prayer, to help maintain the spiritual strength of your husband. I challenge you ... Be the prayer warrior that you are.
